Bimbo

A fun song where the child will experience fast and slow beat patterns through a knee bounce.

Description

A fun song where the child will experience fast and slow beat patterns through a knee bounce.

FOCUS AREAS: [active listening] [bouncing] [low energy]

Source: Derived from the 1953 song "Bimbo" by Jim Reeves.

One song, many ways:

  • What are some other ways you can demonstrate a steady beat when holding a child?
  • Babies lying down: tapping their knees or their tummies to the beat, then for the "see" part you can twinkle your fingers above them, then tickling them for the final line "gonna see a baby riding on a pony!"
  • Toddlers if standing independently: Can you demonstrate a simple bounce by bopping your body up and down? They can mimick your actions, then for "see" - they can twinkle their hands in the air. For the final line they can roll their arms or you can tickle their tummies.

Lyrics:

Bimbo bimbo where you gonna go-eo,

Bimbo bimbo whatcha gonna do-eo.,

Bimbo bimbo whatcha gonna see?

[spoken quickly] Gonna see a baby riding on a pony!
